Why cabins swing so hard
A cabin holds very little air, so everything moves its humidity instantly. Two people sleeping raise it. Cooking pasta raises it. A propane furnace or rooftop air-conditioner drops it within the hour. On the water, add condensation: warm moist cabin air meeting a cold hull overnight leaves everything damp by morning, which is why boat owners run moisture absorbers and dehumidifiers all season. A guitar hanging on a bulkhead experiences all of it — 80% RH at dawn, 35% by mid-afternoon with the heater running.

Placement matters as much as the pack: keep the case away from engine bulkheads, heater outlets and direct sun through windows, and lay it flat where temperature is steadiest — usually low and central. I already run a boat dehumidifier. Do I still need the pack? Yes. Cabin dehumidifiers protect the boat and swing with shore power, hatches and weather; the case pack holds the instrument's actual microclimate at 49% regardless.
